Some girls obsess over handbags. Others have shoe collections that rival that of Imelda Marcos. For me, however, there is nothing that warms my fashion-fixated heart more than a truly brilliant winter coat. My own closet has nearly a dozen, mostly because I am a second-hand shopper who has a nasty habit of not being able to leave that camel hooded rabbit trim wool mac behind (I’ve been told this is a bit excessive…how pedestrian). Nevertheless, I suppose if I had an allowance comparable to that of Blair or Serena, my stockpile would be tenfold. And judging from the behind-the-scenes photos regularly popping up on the internets, there will be a bona fide parade of covetable coats to be seen in the coming weeks (it’s as if B and S are competing for some imaginary gold medal in the Most Stylish Outerwear Category). Here are some of the competitors:
Go Green Go by Phillip Lim Multi-Flap Pocket Coat
Nanette Lepore Last Tycoon Coat
Nanette Lepore Party Girl Coat
Theory Nivalis Jacket

Adam Double Breasted Embroidered Collar Car Coat
Marc by Marc Jacobs Moleskin Coat
And the winner is…

Serena’s Twenty8Twelve Truman Brushed Wool Coat features sharp tailoring, lace-up details, and asymmetrical closure. And with its tailed frock coat silhouette, this piece walks a wonderfully fine line between Carnaby Street rock royalty and 18th century French gentleman. All of which equals perfection in my book. Le sigh.

Rue La La, one of those wonderful invitation only-limited time-designer sales is featuring Catherine Malandrino and Malandrino tomorrow. The sale begins at 11:00am EST.
No word on what items will be on sale, but we love the Catherine Malandrino pieces we have seen on Gossip Girl!!!!!! Usually Blair is wearing the designer, but I have seen Jenny and Bree sport the label as well.

Appearing in a sultry pink cardigan paired with a black Bottega Veneta bikini, Blake Lively is the Marie Claire cover girl for December 2009. Blake is as fashionable off set as she is on. In her interview with Marie Claire, she shared the following about her personal sense of style, “Living in New York, I feel stronger and more like a woman than ever before. In high school, it was like, what power do I have — I have long blonde hair, you know? But working as hard as I do now, I feel a sense of power and respect, too. And I’ve learned an incredible amount about fashion on “Gossip Girl.” Clothes are a personal expression, and my style is as ever-changing as I am: I’m growing, maturing, developing, I’m going through new things in my life, and with that, what I choose to wear changes.”
You can also check out her gorgeous editorial spread that shows her as the bombshell vixen we know she is. My personal favorite is the photo where she is wearing the nautical inspired dress. I love the dress and her hair!

I am all about a great peacock.
Anything that is decked out in the familiar feathers or even just the blue, green, and purple color-combo is instantly a favorite of mine. In fact, my entire bedroom was styled after the dandy feathered friend, embroidered bird area rug and all.
So when I got a sneak-peak of Serena’s Sapphire Lacquered Python & Peacock clutch in “The Grandfather Part II”, I just had to investigate further. When I checked out the website, I wasn’t surprised to learn that the ultra luxe bags by Paige Gamble are a favorite of the “Gossip Girl” costume department this season.

In addition to S, Blair recently carried the much discussed Yellow Ostrich Lunchbox which is adorably reminiscent of my own elementary school-era tote except that it doesn’t have Smurfs on the front and I highly doubt there is a matching Thermos inside (though that would be, dare I say, magnificent).

Mademoiselle Waldorf paired another Paige Gamble design with her Valentino dress for Rufus and Lily’s wedding. The Liquid Copper Alligator & Smoky Quartz Clutch has a “Hot Coffee” finish which, according to the folks over at PG, makes the bag “impervious to liquids” which is all kinds of awesome since you’re going to want to protect your $2800 investment.

All Paige Gamble pieces are crafted with pride in New York City and should you have trouble finding your way inside that lovely new clutch or tote, just click on over to the website and watch their handy little tutorial “How to Open Paige Gamble Clutches” because apparently, there are just as many ways to open a bag as there are bags themselves.

OMG! The Gossip Girl episode 9, “They Shoot Humphreys, Don’t They?”, is stirring up some major controversy. In promos for the episode, they allude to a menage a trois between three main characters. The Parents Television Council sent a letter to the CW network saying the scene is “reckless and irresponsible.” The president of the PTC, Tim Winter wrote, “Gossip Girl routinely depicts teenagers engaging in promiscuous, consequence-free sexual behaviour, and that’s bad enough.”

But more importantly…………… WHO IS INVOLVED? The most obvious guess is Chuck and Blair plus one, but blogs and insiders have said it is not them. Clues have said it will be someone “unexpected” and it will tarnish someone’s goody-goody reputation. It also said the scene is two girls and one guy. Olivia and Dan and Georgina? Olivia and Dan and Vanessa? Hmmm, I guess we will have to wait and see…

Lady Gaga has a cameo on the November 16th episode of the show. Her guest spot included a performance of her new single, “Bad Romance.”

“How To Succeed in Bassness” opens with a scene in which Lily goes through Jenny’s closet suggesting she start getting rid of some of her old clothes. “Does this even fit you anymore?” she asks, holding up a cute little poufy taffeta dress. That question could have been answered literally or figuritively as Jenny’s style has certainly morphed from cute to something quite different. And according to Eric Daman, this was intentional.

In earlier episodes, Daman says that Jenny’s style was a nod to Pretty In Pink with lots of 80’s-style party dresses, polka dots, and Molly Ringwald inspired-vintage. Later, her rock & roll roots started showing with a shaggy new Cherie Currie-razored haircut, darker make-up, and a rebellious new persona. She started adding black leather jackets, spiked ankle boots, and piles of chains into her closet.

- (Molly Ringwald and Cherie Currie)
And now that she lives with the van der Woodsens and has a bigger allowance, Daman describes her style as “a cross between Brooklyn and the Upper East Side” which can be seen in her flawless mixing of rock and roll elements with designer pieces, but still with a dash of Jenny Humphrey old school sweetness thrown in.
In Season 3, it’s already pretty clear that Jenny is struggling with her identity and new position as Queen Bee of the mean girls. But fashionwise, Daman promises that even though she is Blair’s successor, she won’t be sporting a single headband.

I can’t be certain that Eric Daman was listening to a lot of Prince while pulling pieces for this week’s episode, but it wouldn’t surprise me as he seemed to go crazy (and nuts!) with the pop icon’s preferred shade, sprinkling it throughout the episode. From dresses to jewelry to bags, purple reigned supreme during “Enough About Eve”.
Serena got things started sporting a one-shoulder body-con mini from Alexander Wang in a tasty shade of eggplant. She continues with the purple theme by pairing with it a Bodhi Ostrich tote in lavender.

Next up in the plum mini dress brigade was Olivia, who, like Serena, went all asymmetrical on us in this lovely frock from Elizabeth & James:

Not to be outdone by the youngsters, Lily shows up to the NYU Freshman Dinner in a knock-out amethyst satin scoopneck sheath.

Also at the dinner, Vanessa carried a super saturated purple slouchy oversized clutch while Blair’s gemstone necklace added a pop of color to her silver lace ensemble. Even Chuck got in on the act in a paisley silk aubergine robe.

Now if you all will please ’scuse me while I kiss the sky…

Chuck and Blair like you have never seen them! Leighton Meester and Ed Westwick are in the October 2009 issue of Elle magazine and they look HOT! They are clad in blacks and dark tones that gives the pictures a dark, “Gothic-Glamour-Ominous-Upper East Side” feel.
Good thing they have chemistry with each other and know how to work the camera. They are the perfect couple to bring some scandal and manipulation to Elle.
XOXO………..

When talking style in ”Rufus Getting Married”, all eyes are on the wedding attire. Serena and Blair are sporting dresses from J.Mendel and Valentino, respectively, while Georgina fashionably crashes the festivities in a gunmetal satin frock from Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti.

But one of the best items in this week’s episode wasn’t even in any of the wedding scenes, although it did have a part in the planning.
While organizing the celebration, Serena wears this gorgeous “Antwerp Necklace” from Suzanna Dai.

A huge statement piece, the necklace features oversized sun dial-like medallions connected by multiple strands of fine silver chains. Suzie Gallehugh, the designer behind the label, is endlessly inspired by exotic travel destinations and vintage embellishments which is reflected not only in this necklace but throughout her entire collection. Preferred materials include silver and gold, semi-precious stones and metal threads. The end results are Suzie’s hand-crafted pieces which she says are for the “quirky dreamer who appreciates the nostalgia and style of the past while passionately anticipating the thrill of tomorrow”. I’m not quite sure if this describes Serena, per se, but she looks damn good wearing it.
